SUBSTITUTE ACTIVITY FOR GRADUATING STUDENTS’
RECOLLECTION AY 2017 – 2018
The theme for the recollection is “And we
shall affirm & encourage all”. The goals of the recollection are to inspire
the students to live out affirmation and encouragement in their daily lives and
to build the spirit of communion as one of our Lasallian core values.
Reflections on their significant
relationships, those who have helped them through encouragement and those who
may have hurt them, are recalled looking into the effects in one’s person. They
are also given the opportunity to look into their relationships among
classmates and friends before they part ways at graduation, how they can affirm
and encourage one another.
CELAM has prepared this “home recollection” as
a substitute to the missed scheduled recollection. It is our hope that the
student/s doing this requirement will enter into the spirit of prayer and
reflection. Let this remind the student of one’s relationship with God and His
invitation to draw close to Him.
General
Instructions:
1. Take the next 3 days as your “home
recollection”. Decide on a specific time of the day that you are most awake and
will not be distracted. Choose a place to pray where you can pray undisturbed–
maybe a chapel, prayer room or in your own room. Be willing to take 20 – 30
minutes (or longer) each day for this prayer. Have a prayer journal.
2. Bring your handwritten prayer journal when
you go to Celam Office to submit your requirements.
3. Please buy 50 leaves notebook. ( University
green notebook preferably, available @ the Universalle bookstore or
compo/writing notebook 148mm X 200mm 0r 135mm X 210mm)
PART 01: Take the next 3 days as your “home
recollection”.

Opening Prayer - Holy Spirit Prayer

That my work, too, may be holy
Draw my heart, O Holy spirit
That I love but what is holy
Strengthen me o Holy Spirit. Amen.

Reflection
Reflection on Luke 21: 1-19 copy the gospel and write a reflection
As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting
their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two
very small copper coins. “Truly I tell
you,” he said, “this poor widow has put
in more than all the others.
All these people gave their gifts out of their
wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
Jesus affirms the widow’s offering because for
Him it is not the amount which one gives that matters but the spirit in which
the gift is given.
This
activity will remind us of the two types of people we’ve encountered while we
were growing up (say since our 0-20 years old). One type is the monster and the other one is
the champion. Both types of people have greatly affected us and have affected
our being affirming or non-affirming . Some of these persons are still alive
while others have passed away already.
One thing for sure, dead or alive, they continue to influence us. That
is why we are going to do this activity and revisit them so that we can draw
lessons from our encounters with them. So that we can better our moving on.
C. Choose 2 Bible verses that have been
significant to you because they have been a source of encouragement to you.
Write a letter of encouragement and
affirmation to one member of your
family, to one friend close to you, and to a classmate.

A. Pray
with A.C.T.S.
A.C.T.S. is an easy way to remember key
elements of prayer. Go through the different steps prayerfully. It’s simply
prayer in four parts:
Adoration – “Praise be to God!” (Psalms 68:35)
“How awesome are your deeds!” (Psalms 66:3)
Tell God how much you appreciate Him. Express
your love for Him. Praise His power and majesty. This is a great way to begin
your prayer time. Praise God for the beauty of His creation (i.e. the sunrise,
the mountains, trees & flowers, etc.). You should never run out of praise.
Confession – “If we confess our sins, He is
faithful and just, and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all
unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
Tell Him where you have fallen short. Be specific.
Thank Him for the forgiveness He gives in Christ, and ask for help and strength
to turn away from future temptations.
Thanksgiving – Always “glorify him with
thanksgiving” (Psalms 69:30)
There are plenty of reasons to be thankful.
Thank God for His love, His faithfulness, His patience and many other things.
Express gratitude for what He’s doing in your life. Thank God for His blessings
and answered prayers. Thank Jesus for dying on the cross for you. Thank the
Holy Spirit for indwelling you. Thank Him for being your conscience, your
counselor and that “still small voice.”
Supplication – “Make your requests known to
God.” (Philippians 4:6)
Tell God what you want, no matter how small it
seems to you. Pray for the needs and concerns of people closest to you.
(Let CELAM add another S for Scriptures.)
Scriptures – “Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105).
In your daily prayer, take time to read God’s
word and allow Him to speak to you.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and
burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For
my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
